W&S Sine-Cosine Encoder Series 95mm body hollow shaft (SH950)
Sine-cosine (aka sin-cos) encoders are often used in systems, where high resolution is required for extremely accurate position and speed control. This type of signal output are more susceptible to noise than digital signals, which is why sine-cosine encoders often produce differential output signals to counteract the noise.
Sin-cos encoders can detect rotational positions with much higher resolution than pulsed output encoders. These sin-cos encoders are employed in automation, robotics, and servo motors, among other applications, as feedback systems. The A and B data channels are supplied to the controller or controller as 1-volt peak-to-peak sinusoidal waves rather than in the digital on/off pulse format, which is the main distinction between incremental encoders and sin-cos encoders. TTL and HTL output signal levels are typical. Available in both hollow and solid shaft configurations. Contact ADM for more details.
